Lawn scarification

Why scarify your lawn?

In Walloon Brabant, damp winters and loamy soils encourage the build-up of moss and thatch. Without regular intervention, your lawn becomes choked, yellows in patches and loses density. Mechanical scarification is the technical step that brings it back to life.

RENODAY works on residential lawn scarification in Wavre, Rixensart, Waterloo, La Hulpe and throughout Walloon Brabant. We adjust working depth to your soil condition, remove green waste and advise on reseeding if needed.

  • Mechanical scarification with professional scarifier
  • Complete removal of residue (moss, thatch)
  • Soil aeration if needed
  • Reseeding and fertiliser advice after treatment
  • Work on residential lawns, private gardens and co-owned properties

Questions about lawn scarification

Scarification is a mechanical operation that cuts and removes thatch (a layer of dead organic matter) and accumulated moss. It allows air, water and fertiliser to reach the grass roots.

The ideal period is spring (March–April) or autumn (September). The lawn must be active to recover well. In Walloon Brabant, spring is often preferred because damp soil makes the operation easier.

The price depends on area and lawn condition. RENODAY provides a free quote after a visit. As a guide, the rate includes scarification, green waste removal and reseeding advice if needed.

Not when done at the right time with the right settings. The lawn may look poor immediately afterwards, but it grows back denser and greener within 2 to 3 weeks. Reseeding may be planned as a complement.
